Our Monty Out Of The Grand National - Horse Racing News

OUR MONTY has been ruled out of Saturday's JohnSmith's Grand National due to a leg infection.

Disappointed trainer Willie Mullins said: "He has picked up an infection in his front leg and it won't clear up before the weekend."

Our Monty had been a general 40-1 shot to win the Aintree spectacular, having just crept into the field at number 40. He was to be Katie Walsh's first ride in the race.

Mullins, who has been left with three in the race, added: I'm very disappointed for his owners and for Katie too, who was so looking forward to the ride."

Royal Rosa, trained by Howard Johnson and as big as 80-1 with Victor Chandler, is now guaranteed a run having been number 41 on the list.

Mullins' remaining trio are current favourite The Midnight Club, ridden by Ruby Walsh, the Patrick Mullins-partnered Dooneys Gate and Arbor Supreme, the mount of David Casey.

Another non-runner would put Skippers Brig into the race and a second would put Golden Kite in the race, giving Adrian Maguire a first runner in Britain.

Who do you guys fancy for the National?
