Red Bull Set To Dominate Singapore

Red Bull produced a clean sweep in practice for the Singapore Grand Prix on Friday as Sebastian Vettel followed team-mate Mark Webber by setting the quickest time in the second session.

Under floodlights at the Marina Bay circuit, the German set a time of one minute 46.660 seconds to go over six-tenths of a second quicker than Webber, who had topped the timesheets in the opening session

The top five places in session two were all occupied by this season's title contenders, with defending world champion Jenson Button third - albeit over a second down on Vettel - ahead of Ferrari's Fernando Alonso.

Button's McLaren team-mate Lewis Hamilton, who stands five points behind championship leader Webber, was fifth in the 90-minute session which, unlike the earlier run, was conducted in dry conditions.

Despite Vettel's apparently dominant performance, his time could have been bettered by Alonso but for a mistake from the Spaniard when on a flying lap with 20 minutes remaining.

Alonso had just set the quickest first sector time and a personal best in the second before being caught out midway through the third.

He struck a kerb exiting turn 17, forcing him to catch the back end of his car as it attempted to oversteer.

Alonso then attempted to brake for turn 18, but he found himself unable to turn into the corner and was forced to use the short run-off road.

Although Alonso managed to reverse his Ferrari back onto the track, the car soon ground to a halt - leaving its driver to walk back to the pits.

With Hamilton 1.158secs adrift of Vettel, Rubens Barrichello was sixth for Williams ahead of Ferrari's Felipe Massa.

Mercedes' Nico Rosberg was eighth with team-mate Michael Schumacher - who is contesting his first night race this weekend - in tenth behind Renault's Robert Kubica.

However, they were all at least two seconds down on Vettel's time, which was also eight seconds quicker than that managed by Webber during an opening session which started 90 minutes after a rainstorm.

Although temperatures remained as high as 29 degrees centigrade as daylight gave way to dusk and eventually to the dark in session two, the 72 per cent humidity ensured the track dried only slowly.

As in the first session Sauber's Kamui Kobayashi and Nick Heidfeld, in his first race this year after replacing Pedro de la Rosa, were again 12th and 13th, separated by 0.120secs.

Force India's Adrian Sutil joined Alonso on the casualty list after hitting a kerb in the chicane, sending him airborne by a few feet before landing on his front-left wheel, breaking the suspension.

Hispania Racing duo Bruno Senna and Christian Klien, due to race in his first grand prix for four years on Sunday after replacing Sakon Yamamoto who has been sidelined with food poisoning, finished 23rd and 24th, both over eight seconds down.

Betfair Have Vettel priced at 2.96 & Webber next at 4.3.

Vettel the Heavy Favourite at the moment Also topping the Qualifying bets and the Fastest Lap at a price of 3.6
