The Method and How it Works

The author very carefully lays out a method based on Industry Prices v Betfair Prices and explains how you can convert that into regular profits by using a risk factor based on Industry prices.

The Risk Factor is based on his research and his research is based on strike rate so provided that the average bet is less than the strike rate % you will win. It is basically bookmaking in reverse and it works. In fairness to the author we have gone as far as we can into the workings of the method.

The above is slightly different to the authors method but was researched with his agreement to save us time and represents a fair interpretation of the system. He also has no opinion on Irish racing as he has not researched it but kindly agreed for us to post our results.

Observation

---------------

We noticed that from Mid September to early October the method hit a bad patch from a healthy £3000 up to just below zero. We looked deeper into this and realised that the number of runners in the end of season Flat races were in most cases really high and the results from a large number of these were unfavourable. We therefore did an exercise over whole 100 days covered, disqualifying all fields of more than 12 runners and came up with the following results:-

U.K. Racing – qualifiers.....1061 winners......628 losers.....433 profit.....£7094 strike rate......59.18%

Irish Racing – qualifiers....110 winners.....68 losers....42 profit.....£1099 strike rate.......61.81%

You can make your own comparisons but our view is that the number of runners in a race can often affect the outcome – too few = false pace too many = more potential incidents we think that 8 – 12 runners is ideal.

We also noticed that at Kempton Park All Weather track we lost around £1000....whether the fact that it is the only right handed all weather track, the draw bias or the sharpness of the bends or that it often provides 14 runner races we cannot confirm so we can only post this as an observation.

Recommendation

We 100 % RECOMMEND this system .You can operate it any which way you want. For instance there is no reason why you cannot pick your races on days which suit because the method gives you an edge in the Industry Market which our statistics prove should convert into profits.

Just a reminder that you must not breach the author’s golden rule by using the Betfair prices to calculate the authors risk factor.

If you do this then your required strike rate will increase to potentially an unachievable level. I point this out to you because another research company did this and then unsurprisingly failed the method.

Newcastle United Sack Hughton

Newcastle have parted company with Chris Hughton and are looking to appoint a new boss with 'more managerial experience'.

Despite the well-respected Hughton leading the Magpies back into the Premier League at the first time of asking, his services have now been dispensed with following Sunday's 3-1 defeat at West Brom.

The Tyneside club are currently sat in 11th place in the table and enjoyed a 5-1 derby romp against bitter local rivals Sunderland this term, stunned Arsenal at Emirates Stadium and held champions Chelsea on home turf.

But owner Mike Ashley has decided that the time has come to make a change at the helm and the search is now on for a new man to step through the seemingly revolving door to the manager's office at St James' Park.

Hughton initially took charge on a temporary basis following relegation under Alan Shearer at the end of the 2008/09 season before being handed the reins on a permanent basis.

Speculation over his position has never been far from the headlines this season, and only this weekend he was forced to deny suggestions that player power was influencing his team selections.

Regrettably

Further reports surfaced on Monday morning that the 51-year-old was facing the axe, with the club confirming that Hughton had departed shortly after 2pm.

A statement on the club's official website read: "Newcastle United Football Club have today parted company with manager Chris Hughton. Goalkeeping coach Paul Barron also leaves the club today.

"The board would like to place on record their thanks to Chris for his considerable efforts during the club's transition from Championship to Premier League football.

"Chris has shown exceptional character and commitment since being appointed manager in October 2009. The club wishes him well for the future.

"Regrettably the board now feels that an individual with more managerial experience is needed to take the club forward.

"The task of appointing a new manager now begins. An announcement will be made shortly regarding transitional arrangements pending the appointment of a successor."

The Good, The Bad & The Ugly (And Something New)

Below we have three final reviews for systems that have completed the 100 day period, two we can give a recommendation and one is a failure. We also have a couple of important updates for products and services we have mentioned over the last few months.

LAY THE RATINGS - FINAL REVIEW

This system came to us with good recommendation from several different sources with the view that long term this had proved to be profitable as stated by the author in his manual.

The 100 day trial which has been completed is probably at best the minimum amount of time needed to give a fair appraisal but enough to enable us to give our recommendations.

As the name suggests the service is a laying system that lays certain horses across three different sets of ratings.The service comes with two options you can just buy the book and work selections out for yourself as a one off payment but for ease of use we suggest that you do as we did and receive the selections to your inbox each day for a monthly fee, you can currently trial this for £3.99. The service has a unique staking plan from a 3 point maximum lay to a 1/8 of point minimum lay. These points are dependent on the price of the horse so that you are not risking a lot of money on high price lays. We liked the way this worked out but at the end of this review we highlight an amendment which came about after looking through our results and would improve profitability and reduce the number of bets. Our bets were recorded to £50 a point so our 3 point bet is £150 and our 1/8 of a point bet on the higher odds was £6.25. We will continue to update the results on a monthly basis. First of all the results:-

Trial Period 8th August - 15th November

SYSTEM 1, 504 Lay Bets for a loss of -£712

SYSTEM 2, 178 Lay bets for a profit of +£772

SYSTEM 3, 248 Lay bets for a profit of +£774

TOTAL 930 Lay Bets for a Profit of +£834

All three systems started badly and their all time lows were:-

SYSTEM 1 18th September loss £1725

SYSTEM 2 19th September loss £446

SYSTEM 3 15th August loss £443

By the end of the trial the turnaround from these lows was;

SYSTEM 1 £1013

SYSTEM 2 £1238

SYSTEM 3 £1217

Total Turnaround £3468

This tells us that unlike many other systems we have researched this one has the ability to recover from a bad patch, which occurs in nearly every system.

OBSERVATION

By restricting the lays to the three points and two points selections only i.e 2.00 to 3.5 all three systems were profitable and only 108 bets required and this is because the strike rate required dramatically reduces to under70%.

So by doing some simple analysis across all three systems and eliminating duplications we came up with the following results:-

8th August - 15th November 2 and 3 point lays Only

2 point lays.......37 wins (losers) 11 losses (winners ) profit +£1141

3 point lays........39 wins (losers) 21 losses (winners) profit +£1281

combined 76 wins (losses) 32 losses (winners) profit +£2422

A profit on average of almost £200 a week to our stakes and much less bets which cannot be bad

RECOMMENDATION

We will be putting this service in the Recommend section. It has shown a profit over the 100 days and we have highlighted that this can be turned into a nice profit with a small tweaking if you wish. The customer service is absolutely excellent. Robert who runs the service answered every email and unlike other services where they have started losing then immediately change everything they do and start making excuses, Robert just kept sending out selections with no negativity whatsoever. Why - because he knows long term this system makes a profit.

Layers of Profit - Final Review

Layers of Profit is a Laying Service that e-mails one selection per day for the cost of £19.99 a month. You receive one selection each day that is to be layed at no more than 4.0 on Betfair or other exchanges. This was a very easy service to follow requiring just one bet placed in the morning when the email arrived and was thoroughly enjoyable to follow having never been in deficit.

For the hundred days the service was in profit to the tune of £2741 to £100 Lay stakes. We see the service as a mortgage payer, a service that gives you a few hundred pounds profit each month for little effort required.

We have to class the product as RECOMMENDED for its sheer consistency over the review period and tidy profitable sum.

Justlays is a very similar service to Layers of Profit and Martin who runs the site did help Layers of Profit get going. Justlays send 2 selections a day usually with a maximum Lay price of 3.5. However unlike Layers of Profit this service has proved far from profitable. Over our 100 day review the service showed a loss of         -£2693 to £100 lay stakes. When I took over the site I know Justlays was a service that the previous owners had already looked at and my notes here say that it was in the negative also. Having had two bites at the cherry and finding far two many winning horses to convince us that this service will ever show a regular consistent profit we have no choice but to place Justlays in the FAILED section of our website, and would not recommend you subscribing to this service.

Haye Vs Harrison - Precision Vs Power (Who's Got The Edge)

Boxing biggest names have waded in to voice their views on Saturday night's all British heavyweight bout. But will it help the bettors? asks Ralph Ellis.

It's normally good to listen to the experts. When you're weighing up a bet, getting the views of the men who've been there and done it themselves, or seen decades of similar contests, can help you crystallise your thoughts.

So with the Haye v Harrison world title fight now just three days away it seemed a good morning to check out the opinions in the papers. Surprise, surprise - four out of five experts quoted this morning give big Audley a puncher's chance or more of winning.

Betfair's punters have hardened their view in the opposite direction, with Haye's price trimming a fraction to 1.16, and a first round stoppage in his favour the most popular outcome at 9.5. And on their side is that the most logical assessment comes today from the last bloke who did get on the wrong end of an Audley Harrison left-hander, Michael Sprott. He's going for a Haye win inside five rounds, and says: "I wouldn't put my house on it, but if I had six houses I would keep the other five and put one on." On Betfair's market that would get him 1.69 houses in return!

The others? Let's start with one of boxing's greats Mike Tyson, who reckons former cruiserweight champ Haye could be vulnerable to one of those big, powerful punches with 19 stones of a genuine heavyweight behind it. "Audley's a southpaw and David is real susceptible to that right hand because he throws a lot of lefts," is his verdict.

Then there's Lennox Lewis, once undisputed world champion and a man who has tried to mentor Harrison for much of a career that could have been so much better if he had ever listened to advice. His assessment? "Audley has the power to stun the world. Haye is a better boxer but Audley is a consummate pro."

Britain's most popular heavyweight of modern times, Frank Bruno, also goes for Audley on similar grounds. "Some people underestimate him, but he's a southpaw, a natural heavyweight, and he can connect with that left hand."

Did I mention five experts? The last word goes to Audley Harrison's wife Raychel (but then doesn't the last word always go to the missus?). Her summing up? "It's not if he can land that left hook, but when. Audley's mind is so bright and it is his mind which will win this game."

So I know boxing has a long history of selling tickets - and in these times pay per view subscriptions - by convincing the underdog has a genuine opportunity in what turns out to be a one-sided fight. And maybe I'm a sucker for the stories. But I am fascinated by the amount of top judges giving Harrison an even money chance, making 7.2 more and more appealing as the value bet. I wouldn't risk a house on it, even if I did have six others. But a sneaky tenner might be a different proposition.

Five things you might not know about Michael Sprott

1. Born January 1975 in Eardley near Reading, his parents Dorrie and Albert also had three girls. Sadly his sister Ginette took her own life in September 1979 having suffered from post-natal depression.

2. He trained as a motor mechanic after leaving school, and still works part-time in the Reading branch of Kwik-Fit. He's also had jobs as a furniture removals man.

3. He has the name of his nine-year-old son Darnell stitched on his shorts and describes himself as a "doting dad."

4. British heavyweight champion in 2004 after outpointing Danny Williams, he held the title just three months before being knocked out by Matt Skelton.

5. He helps support a project for planning permission to redevelop the Maidenhead which is his base - although he spends a lot of time in Germany as a regular sparring partner for both Wladimir and Vitali Klitschko.

Seria A - Italian Giants Up For Sale

Italpetroli, the holding company in charge of Roma, have confirmed they are considering a number of bids for control of the club.

The Italian giants have struggled financially in recent years, prompting the big money sale of Alberto Aquilani to Liverpool in 2009, but they have yet to balance the books.

The Sensi family, who own Italpetroli, are resigned to losing control of the club and are set to consider offers before deciding on which is best to take the Serie A side forward.

Details of any potential buyers are yet to be exposed, but a statement released by Italpetroli suggests there is no shortage of interest.

"A limited number of offers will be selected and they will be allowed to obtain further information for the preparation of binding offers," the statement read.

"Italpetroli doesn't intend, for now, to supply further information regarding those who have made offers or the details of those offers."

Roma finished second to Inter Milan in Serie A last season but have struggled with the pace at the top so far this term, taking just 15 points from their opening 10 games.
